However, we consider these accounts to be baseless, believing the truth has been tarnished by much nonsense. There are, in fact, certain species of very clever apes known as Cynocephali that almost seem to mimic human intelligence; these were discussed at greater length in the *History of Digitated Quadrupeds*. We do not deny that there may have been, or could be, individual humans who resemble dogs in their facial structure, but these ought to be categorized as monsters. Nevertheless, for the reader's benefit, we shall present the figure of a supposed Cynocephalus.
