On the differences between the Camel and the Camelopard
I have already enumerated the various species of this animal in my volume on cloven-hoofed quadrupeds, where I also provided several illustrations. Here, I am presenting additional images: the first will represent a second species of the Bactrian camel, and the second will show the camel commonly found in the deserts of Libya and Numidia—the animal that constitutes the primary wealth of the Arabs. A figure of this latter camel was drawn by Cornelis de Jode on his map of Africa, and it differs from the depiction of this creature that I have published elsewhere.
