Supplement on All Animals. 109
To the aforementioned, we add illustrations of three aquatic animals which are depicted on the Map of Europe by Cornelis de Jode. The first has a snout like a whale and is said to frequent the Tyrrhenian Sea near Sardinia. It has a sharp beak and is equipped with large fins—namely, two near the head and another pair near the base of its tail. It carries its tail coiled and marked with distinct rings; the end of the tail is split and features a tuft resembling the tip of a lioness's tail.
