We do not wish to omit the illustration of a hawk with a black head and tail but an otherwise white body—even though we strongly doubt whether such an animal truly exists in nature. This image was observed on the Bembine Table, depicted above the head of Apollo; many other monstrous birds were illustrated on that same table, as we have already explained in our *History of Monsters*.
